FundamentalsBeginner

Definition

A beat means results came in above analysts' expectations. A raise means management lifted its outlook for coming periods. Together they suggest demand is stronger than expected and analysts usually have to lift their forecasts.

Watch out for

Prices reflect expectations, not just results. A beat and raise can still be followed by a drop if investors hoped for more.
