Measured move

A projection that assumes a pattern's move will repeat in size after a breakout.

Traders often project the height of a pattern, such as a flagpole or a head-and-shoulders, from the breakout point to set a rough target.

Watch out for

It is a rule of thumb. Plenty of breakouts fall short of the projection and others go further.
