TAM (Total Addressable Market)

The total revenue opportunity if a company won every possible customer in its market.

FundamentalsIntermediate

Definition

Companies quote TAM to show how much room they have to grow. A large TAM supports a growth story, but it is an estimate and is often defined generously.

Watch out for

TAM is not a forecast. Look at the share the company can realistically win.
