Volume climax

A very high-volume bar that can mark an exhaustion point.

Technical AnalysisIntermediate

Definition

A climax happens when volume spikes far above average at the end of a sharp move, as if everyone who wanted to act has done so. Moves often pause or reverse afterward, though not always.

Watch out for

High volume can also mean the start of a new trend. Context decides which.
