Options sweep

An options order split across several exchanges so it fills immediately.

Market Structure & FlowIntermediate

Definition

Sweeps prioritize speed over price, so they are often read as a sign of urgency. They appear in options flow feeds alongside the premium and size of the trade.

Watch out for

A sweep can be an opening bet or a hedge, and it can be a seller as well as a buyer. Look at whether it traded at the ask or the bid.
